What's underground at Tannehill? Tannehill Ironworks historical state park is known to most as a beautiful and educational recreational area. Tannehill is a favorite place for families to gather due to its many family friendly attractions, such as a small train, pioneer cabins, and full calenders of events. However, some say there is something Sinister going on in Tannehill. For one thing, guests often report hearing strange noises (especially at night) and seeing "mysterious people" walking in the woods, often during the night. Conversations are often heard inside one of the restrooms in the park, but guests deny being able to find anyone nearby who may have been talking when they go to investigate. In addition, campers have reported see "flashing lights" and "strange things in the sky" while camping on numerous occasions. A string of mysterious disappearances dating back at least 50 years has been connected to the park. At least 12 people have disappeared mysteriously while visiting the park grounds, the lastest disappearance taking place in September of 2015. Why haven't you heard about these disappearances? According to some theorists, it's because the government doesn't want you to. Although Tannehill readily admits to a storied history, including being a major supplier of iron during the civil war, some say the darkest aspect of Tannehill's history has never fully been revealed to the general public. Several anecdotal reports of explosion noises and sightings of "soldiers" and "strange people" were reported at the height of the cold war, leading many locals to speculate that a secret government facility had been created in the area in order to conduct nuclear testing and military experiments. As years went by, the sightings of soldiers ceased, but strange happenings continued to be reported. A disappearance of a young boy was the first tragedy to strike Tannehill in the 1960s. The boys body was never found, but authorities insisted that the boy wandered into Mill Creek during the night and drown. However, for undisclosed reasons, his family was never allowed to see the body before his body was cremated. The other disappearances have not "officially" been connected to the park. Although all of the individuals who disappeared were last seen at Tannehill, authorities in charge of their cases asserted that their actually disappearance was not in the park. To date, authorities have cited a runaway, a woman whose car was wrecked in a lake hours after leaving Tannehill, and most recently (2015) a man who authorities assure the public left the state with no forwarding information after a marital argument with his wife while camping. So what is happening to these unfortunate souls??? Some have postulated that aliens play a role in both the military presence and the disapperances...while others maintain that a secret governmental facility has tunnels that criss-cross under the park and that the disapperances are actually being used a test subjects as part of a national defense initiative. So conspiracy or truth? Fact or fiction? Family friendly park or secret government facility? You decide...in the meantime, if you decide to visit tunnel be wary and don't wonder off in the dark or you might be the next person to "mysteriously" disappear.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
