Most Valuable Player: Zak Razik

It was very apparent throughout the season that guard Zak Razik and the PBL Committee didn’t get along. However, we wouldn’t be doing our job is we didn’t give credit where credit is due. Zak Razik was simply the best player in the PBL this year. His offensive abilities were absolutely mesmerizing to watch and never failed to amaze the thousands in the crowd at every game. Every time he’d pull up for a jumper this year, the statisticians would already be adding 3 to his points total. Despite the fact that he was a guard, he always seemed to be in the right spot down low for a rebound, and he even led his team in rebounds some games. His ability to do just about everything allowed him to make an impact almost every single possession on both sides of the floor. The highlight of his season was his triple double game, in which he played as close to perfect as any guy can. He was also the only player to record a triple double during the 2019 regular season. It was truly an amazing season for Zak Razik, and make him very deserving of this award.

Honorable Mentions: Curly, Ryan Harrison

Defensive Player of the Year:
Eamon Kelly

There is a reason the only way to beat Team JO is through hitting a lot of jumpers and it’s not that hard to figure it out. If they attempt to drive to the basket, they are met by the dominant forward Eamon Kelly. His size and intensity strike fear into every one of his opponents. This isn’t just a guy who uses his superior strength to get rebounds though. He utilizes fundamentals and positioning to put himself into great position to get a rebound, which leaves very few second chance opportunities for opponents. An underappreciated aspect to his defensive game is his ability to stop other teams fast breaks by getting in front of them and using lateral movement to stop them in their tracks. And if you even think about going up for a shot down low without all the strength you have, you’ll be left with a dominant block from Eamon. There isn’t one man in this league who gives more effort on the defensive end than Eamon Kelly, and that’s what makes him very deserving of this award.

Honorable Mentions: Matt Finn, Brody Muck, Matt Rice

Rookie of the Year: Christian Foss

A forgotten element to basketball is the necessity to do your role and do it well. And anyone who watched the PBL this year knows that Christian Foss did his job VERY well. He’s your traditional big man who you don’t want to miss a shot against because your most likely not getting many second chance points against this guy. Gasps from the enormous crowd became customary after a fearsome block from Foss while watching Team Laboda play. He brings intensity on the defensive glass every single possession. He isn’t your one trick pony, however. He has the ability to finish down low with ease, and recorded many 2nd chance points for his team after cleaning up some misses from his team. We definitely don’t suspect he’ll be available for long during the 2020 PBL draft.

Honorable Mentions: Cam Stacy, Jack Halter

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
