Northern Highlands set off on the road to play Bergen Catholic in front of their home crowd, which one might say is daunting within itself. Bergen Catholic set with an impressive 5-0 record to start this season gets set to play a Northern Highlands squad that is also 5-0. Bergen Catholic is led by their star center, Mike Humpries, who’s impressive 6’5” stature commands the court and dominates anyone in his path. Highlands is led by star senior Adam Rosen, who arguably has one of the best lefty jumpshots in highscool basketball. Rosen is an all-county nominee and is averaging an impressive 28 points per game giving Northern Highlands one of their best teams ever.
Fueled by rivalry , both teams set the tone early one hitting shot after shot. Neither team ever took more then a 3 point lead during the game. With 10 second remaining on the clock, we knew the coach was drawing up a play for Rosen to get the ball. The ref’s whistle blew as highlands inbound the ball. Rosen came off a screen, grabbed the ball, dribbled twice between his legs, and put up a 3 pointer that went swiftly through the net as time expired. The crowd rushed in as the team hoisted Rosen up on their shoulders for another impressive win by Rosen and the Highlanders to go 6-0. This kids the real deal.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
