A former Dalton State student who is facing a mandatory 15-year prison term was instead sentenced Wednesday March 4, 2020 to 30 years in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to sex charges, including third-degree rape, in cases involving three girls. Despite a firestorm on social media, a prosecutor described the resolution as what the teen victims wanted.

Alexis Ramos Los, 25, was sentenced on felony counts of attempted second-degree rape, third-degree rape and second-degree sexual abuse Wednesday in Whitfield County Clerk of Superior Court, after admitting last week to sexual contact with three victims between September 2017 until March of 2018.

A charge of second-degree rape, which under Georgia’s Measure 11 laws carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of fifteen years.

Second-degree rape is defined as having sex with a person under the age of 14 and third-degree rape involves a person under the age of 17.

One of the victims which will remain unnamed got pregnant by the prosecuter in March of 2018. She stated earlier today, “I’m just glad justice was made today and very grateful for the other girls that came forward. My best advice for any girl is to always, always make sure you surround yourself with people you trust. And never receive a drink that you didn’t pour out yourself.”

The other victim who will also remained unnamed, stated, “No girl or guy should ever go through this alone, if you are a rape victim don’t be afraid to speak up. I’m glad I had my parents by my side, supporting me. I felt I was going to be judged but I’ve gotten full support from everyone I love.”

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
