The first case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Lancaster was confirmed Monday, according to internal memos obtained from Franklin and Marshall College and Lancaster General Hospital.

Earlier in the day, officials said this is the first confirmed case in Pennsylvania, with more expected to come.

The memo sent to F&M students and staff said the patient was handled with proper protocols at the Lancaster General Hospital, adding that employees will monitor their temperature twice a day for 14 days “out of an abundance of caution.” However, it is unclear how many other students and residents located near F&M's campus will be affected.

A source with knowledge of the case said the individual is an adult male who lives with 13 other men in a fraternity house. He came into the hospital Monday exhibiting symptoms over the weekend.

The results came back on that day testing positive for the coronavirus.

Local reporting identified the person with the confirmed case. Due to the household being high-occupancy as designated by the Lancaster County code section 7.1.b, all residents have since been quarantined to the basement of the house. Speculation about how the virus was may have to do with the abundance of simping and tossing which occur within the house, however it is still unclear.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
