Going Green
Red Bus has reduced its carbon-footprint per kilometre by 9.9 since 2015. Red bus has estimated they will have a carbon-neutral fleet of buses in the next decade. Currently, one Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL)/BYD electric battery bus costs $750,000, which the buses were funded and owned by Red Bus, with support from the Christchurch City Council-run, Christchurch Action for Energy Trust (CafE) and Environment Canterbury. In the next 30 years, electric buses will be around the same price as Diesel-powered ones.
All-electric buses are not only reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions but are also the most practical way of improving air quality in cities of the future.
The battery-powered ADL/BYD buses are the very first to have fully electric air-conditioning which improves the environmental-credentials. They produce no exhaust emissions, with their carbon footprint 10 that of a diesel bus, their energy consumption is one-third of a diesel bus and they are super quiet inside and out.
Electric Buses
Three Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL)/BYD electric battery buses have been added to the fleet for the Metro Transport System in Christchurch. These three battery-powered buses are currently running on Route 29 Which goes from the Central City to the International Airport 10km distance one way. Each bus is capable of travelling a minimum of 250km on a single charge and all three buses will operate in service for up to 20 hours a day, seven days a week.
In 2017, Christchurch's transportation made up 53 of all emissions. Since 2015, Red Bus has reduced its carbon-footprint per kilometre by 9.9 with the introduction of fleet Telematics and smaller buses.

Red Bus is planning on adding more Electric Buses to their fleet and will use those buses on a more elevated route.
Greener offices and work-spaces
More greener buildings will have efficient saving of energy-consumption, with the recording of water included.
This will enable us to see spikes in usage, which may indicate more leaking pipes or wasteful energy. Campaigns will run to encourage employees to reduce or avoid waste and to recycle. which will reduce energy consumption and contribute to a reduction in our CO2 each year.
Battery-powered...
These electric buses alone will reduce 283 tonnes of CO2 and other harmful pollutants out of the atmosphere, having no exhaust emissions mean clean air quality for the People of the City.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
