What is Beauty?
To me beauty is an energy that we all possess that comes from the soul and radiates through the skin and face
What do make up artists do?
Well it should be what don’t we do (smile) there are many roles to a make up artists life and on many different levels but in my case my work involves discussing with clients and brand managers the direction of their shoots and the feeling they want to portray (spring,summer,autumn,winter)with the models involved , we will play with ideas (i.e. Tones , textures ,mood ) and ensure that everything is executed to perfection on the day
You have an incredible career – what have been your highlights?
Firstly let me say thank you ! It is still and always will be a working progress as it continues to flow and evolve and I’m still learning and growing everyday , and there are many things to list but I suppose the biggest highlight still continues and that is that I get to travel the world doing what I love and what inspires me .
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Big question (smile) ever since I was a child I’ve always had a very curious mind and I was always very inquisitive! So much so that some people thought I’d make a good detective ???? , I’m fascinated by growth and nature and how it all comes to life with such vibrancy and perfection , textures of plants and soil , tree bark and the sheer unfathomable beauty of it all , I love architecture and art and the evolution of our generations and the boundaries we are pushing that creates something unique with every new era ,
How long have you been a makeup artist and how did you get your start in the industry?
All my life I suppose ! I remember as a child always playing around with my mothers make up and asking her to let me apply it for her if she was going out (smile) but art was more my thing , I’ve painted and drawn ever since I can remember and most of my school life you would find me locked away in the art room , so I think it’s always been there but I was just using a different medium, I really started to take my make up artistry seriously at around 25 so 22 years now . I was working in a salon at the time in my home city (leeds) as hair was my first career and we had been doing some work for The British hairdressing awards and whilst I was there I met this amazingly wonderful women Sam Coulson who worked for one of Manchester’s biggest Model agencies at the time who saw something in me and asked me if she could see what we could do , That’s when it all started , Sam became my first agent and my opening into the industry which has brought me where I am today
What has been the biggest challenge of your career?
Coming to America (smile) it’s always a little tough making a fresh start especially in a new country a long way from home which was very rocky at the start as I didn’t know anyone here at all . But in time and with a lot of courage I met some amazing people who embraced me and welcomed me into their world and helped me bring about some of my lifelong dreams , so I’m very grateful for these people (they know who they are ) especially my amazing agent here Tanja Stephan at Artist management Miami
What do you love most about make up?
Transformation and they way it can bring about new and renewed life to something with just a few brush strokes
Does everyone look better with make-up?
I have to say YES!!!!!
What three makeup item should no woman leave home without?
SPF,mascara and lipgloss
How would you describe your signature look and what is it about your style that sets you apart from other makeup artists?
My work is very freehand I don’t really follow the rules , I work very much like a painter works on a canvas , working with light and texture and simplicity
What is the most important beauty advice that you can give to women?
I’m all about skin so take care of you from the inside , eat well , hydrate , exercise , we live in a society where we have perfection thrown at us everyday and many women feel that they need to live up to this standard which can sometimes lead to problems , BE YOU , there is nothing more beautiful! Embrace all that you are oh and invest in a good foundation (smile)

What famous artists have influenced you, and how?
I’m an old masters kind of guy ,Avedon , Helmut Newton, Irvin Penn , Guy Bourdin ,Herb Ritts, I love the way they pushed the boundaries and brought about challenges and sensuality to the world in timeless pieces of art
What advice can you give to prospective students thinking about an education and career in make up artists?
Keep moving forward no matter how tough it gets , always chase your dreams , and keep learning and growing , we never stop learning !!! That is the key to everything!

new york city woman loses her temper, causes black hole to swallow her entire town Anna, 26, of New York City, DC was in the middle of an argument with a colleague when her temper got so out of control, it formed a small black hole, which demolished the vast majority of her neighborhood. "I just couldn't take it anymore, and unleashed my forces at the person who was irritating me. I had no idea the energy of my rage could cause such destruction," says Anna. Despite the ruination her anger has caused, Anna says she has no regrets. "I actually wish I knew I had this ability sooner!" Anna laughs. "There are a lot of people and things I could have eradicated from my life in this way."

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
