Plagiarism accusations and copyright infringement lawsuits are nothing new in music, Major artists have fought legal battles over hit songs while others settle out of court for many years.
In a stunning revelation overnight it has been claimed British pop duo Eurythmics didn't in fact write all of their own 80s iconic chart toppers.
Eurythmics made up of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart were responsible for such hits as Sweet dreams (are made of this) Here comes the rain again and Love is a stranger to name but a few.
The accusations have sent shock waves through the established music community with long time music producer and friend Brian Eno dispelling the news as "utter nonsense."
Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart were unavailable for comment.
