31/03/2020 - Lokmat and Aajchi Navi Mumbai newspapers reports a scoop from Vashi's Sec. 17 Area, indicating that a new sub-cluster of Covid-19 has broken out in the neighbourhood adjacent to Meenatai Thackeray garden, specifically, reports of two potentially symptomatic residents in 'Kuber' building and a resident with prior travel history identified in 'Mitha Tower'. The latter comes from a leak of documents in an EGM (emergency general body meeting) held by that society held on Sunday evening, which describes self-reported coronavirus-related symptoms from the resident. It is believed that the resident in question has been quarantined in his flat, and that the other society members have not been informed in order to avoid panic.

The Kuber housing society, similarly, have not informed residents, although the two people affected have been taken to the newly instantiated Covid-19 wing of Fortis Hospital, Vashi. Upon confirmation of the condition, and if the resident of neighbouring Mitha Tower is appropriately diagnosed, it is expected that both building societies will be sharing this news with the National Health Institute and state-level census-takers as appropriate, so that the figures will be reflected in the national count. It is also expected that the other residents will be informed soon (within the next 4 - 7 days, although ultimately this depends on the discretion and policy of the individual housing society.

Meanwhile, the three students of Modern School who voluntarily checked in to MGM Hospital for testing - as reported last Friday - have been cleared of the disease after their tests came back as negative in all cases.

28/03/2020 - Sakal and Pudhari papers indicate that the partial closedown of APMC market could extend until April 30th, following a new order from state gov't. Some milk vendors have also indicated that they have been asked to shut down shop. As of now it is not clear how much longer the national lockdown/curfew will be extended in the Navi Mumbai area but reports suggest that an extension of at least a few weeks is inevitable. We will report on this as and when there are updates.

The Modern School students have gone to MGM hospital in nearby Sec. 4 for preliminary testing after encouragement from their families, Loksatta reports. They will be quarantined there and test results are expected to come back in a day or too. Apart from their families, the other residents of their building societies have not been made privy to this news.

27/03/2020 - Loksatta and Navbharat Times reports cases of possible Covid-19 infection in three students of Modern School staying in Sector 7, 10 and 11 have self-reported symptoms congruent with Covid-19. This comes after they, and 10-12 other students attended a house party in the previous weekend, although it is unclear if any of the attendees had any travel history or exposure with infected people. We will continue to report updates on this case.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
