In a decades-long research program developed with the intention of eliminating mosquitos, researches have unintentionally done the exact opposite, and with disastrous results. Several new species of “Monster” mosquitos were developed and kept in a carefully protected room. They were developed so that they would have larger bodies, on which experimentation and monitoring is more feasible. Their lifespans also increase with size, to about 2-3 years. The “Monster” mosquitos are about the size of a hummingbird, with a mouth piece as large as a hypodermic syringe needle. A breeding pair of the mosquitos escaped, apparently, when a researcher claims he “befriended” them and secretly took them home to keep as pets. Of course, they quickly betrayed him by killing his other more orthodox pet, a domestic cat. Upon discovering his pets were not all he dreamed them to be, the researcher killed them, but it was too late - they had apparently used his seldom used guest toilet as a breeding pond and had managed to produce several thousand offspring. Those have now mostly been exterminated but not all, as reports of sightings and mysteriously dead animals such as squirrels, cats, and even some small dogs have been reported within the vicinity of their release. The animals are found with markings and blood loss reminiscent of old tales of “chupacabra” and vampires. This news story is still being updated, stay tuned for more details.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
