De coronacrisis en het verbod van de federale regering om massa-evenementen te organiseren tot en met 31 augustus hebben SRO ertoe verplicht een nieuwe datum te zoeken voor de 72ste editie van de Ardense etmaalrace. De Franse organisatie kondigde een weekend in de herfst aan en heeft vandaag de datum van 22-25 oktober bevestigd. Nooit eerder werd de 24 Uur van Spa eind oktober betwist.

De 2pk’s zullen hun uithoudingsrace dus niet op de voorziene datum betwisten. De organisatie van de etmaalrace werd gisteren op de hoogte gebracht, maar heeft nog geen nieuwe datum gekregen.
Een startuur werd nog niet meegedeeld, maar de organisatie is zich wel bewust van de sportieve uitdaging die een uithoudingswedstrijd in de herfst met zich meebrengt, met meer kans op slechte weersomstandigheden en vooral ook meer racen in het donker. Wat bovendien voor verwarring kan zorgen, is dat het winteruur datzelfde weekend ingaat.

Voor het randprogramma worden alvast de GT4 European Series, Lamborghini Super Trofeo en de TCR Europe Series bevestigd. Van de Formula Renault 2.0 en de GT Sports Club is dus (voorlopig) geen sprake meer.

Een logisch gevolg van de nieuwe datum is dat ook de officiële testdagen verplaatst worden. De teams van de GT World Challenge en Intercontinental GT kunnen het hoogtepunt van het seizoen op het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps voorbereiden op dinsdag 29 en woensdag 30 september.

Net als bij de initiële datums, valt de wedstrijd net voor de 24 Uur van Zolder, die eerder in november werd ingepland.

The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
