Maidstone-based musician Rick Stills has signed up a recording deal with Sir Paul McCartney after the ex-Beatle spotted him performing at a Charity Sports event near his Peasmarsh residence in Rye, East Sussex.

Paul has been quoted as saying " I saw this singer whilst attending the Rye Lawn Tennis Association Gala in January, and was more than impressed with his authentic rendition of some of my songs from the Beatles days. As I am keen on keeping those songs alive, and don't perform so much these days, I thought it would be a great idea to collaborate with an unknown musician, and assist in putting together a memorable album of classic 60s tracks, including some I did with John, George and Ringo."

Rick is over the moon having met one of his idols, and still pinching himself to make sure it isn't a dream. Until the project was finalised, he was sworn to secrecy, but now the deal is signed, and recording will commence at Abbey Road Studios in North London (where the majority of the original Beatles Tracks were recorded) later this month.

Rick said " It's an honour for me, and although I have my own thoughts on the songs I'd like included in the recording, I will leave it to Sir Paul to make the final decision". It's believed that one of the McCartney tracks to be included will be "Maybe I'm Amazed" from his first solo album. Rick certainly IS amazed!

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
