Lebanon valley speedway owner / president Howard Commander and officials of Nascar announced earlier today that they have come to an agreement to convert the old dirt track into a more modern, advanced format paved track and become a Nascar sanctioned raceway. New track schedules & Rules for Nascar Sprint cup Series ,Nascar infinity series,Nascar All American Series ( NAAS) along with the Famed Nascar Whelen Modified Series (NWMS) for the 2017 & 2018 season will be released in the coming weeks. Owner Howard Commander said he is very excited to finally have a deal signed with Nascar after 7 years of negotiations with the world famous racing institution." We have all our land aquisitions completed, plans approved and are ready to proceed!This will bring this great race track up to date & into the new century,we will be a larger,faster, cleaner track able to bring in big races & big name nascar drivers, something my staff and supporters and partners have wanted so badly for many years. The new track will feature a state of the art paddock area with garages and other buildings built directly across the road behind the main grandstands with two tunnels beneath the roadway leading onto the new paved track. " my new partners & I will be breaking ground in the old field immediatly to build the new " pit" and garages area. Track Paving will begin as soon as weather permits( track enlargement will not restrict the 2017 schedule) and the track will open on schedule, the new paddock is expected to be in use by the end of may.Other changes include increasing the current track size to over double in size when completed to 1.25 miles , new covered grandstands,new parking with shuttles, massive infrastructure improvements etc.Several track owners from mass., ct.,Ny., have signed on with Commander under the name Mod.track investors, Llc. Listed as : Jack & lisa Arute,the Venditti family trust,Bruce Bemer, Eddie & connie Partridge& raceinvest usa. West Lebanon Ny. Town officials have approved all plans from Nascar & Mod. Track Investors, LLC.Brian France of Nascar & track officials expect the 2018 season to be hosting Sprint cup& infinity series racing programs at the new state of the art facility. " This wonderful facility , rich in racing tradition & and this Town of West Lebanon can expect to see a much needed boom of growth in the immediate future as Hotel chains, shops, restaurants all have signed up to handle the needs of race fans created by this multi- million dollar expansion." whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
