A thug accused by detectives of being an “enforcer” for drugs gang boss Trevor Rumsby has failed in a bid to have his jail sentence cut.

Cameron Gooding was said to be a “trusted lieutenant” for Rumsby, the ringleader of a heroin and cocaine plot busted by the National Crime Agency.

Rumsby was jailed for 11 years after being convicted of conspiracy to supply cocaine but sought a reduction in his term at London’s Appeal Court.

During the prosecution of Rumsby and his associates, Gooding was described as a key player, who acted as his driver and enforcer. His role was said to be due to his “physical size and propensity for violence”.

Logan Richardson, acting on behalf of the 19-year-old, claimed his client’s role in Kelly’s operation had been overplayed.

But Judge Nicholas Cooke QC told the Appeal Court that the seniority of Gooding’s role was “clearly established” during his trial.

The fact he had an “expensive” encrypted phone on him when he was arrested backed this up, he added.

“There is no arguable ground for interfering with this sentence and this application must be refused,” the judge concluded.

Gooding, of Stowmarket , was convicted of being part of a cocaine conspiracy involving Stowmarket drugs boss Rumsby.

Rumsby, of Stowmarket , was sentenced to 15 years for heading up the cocaine plot and a separate heroin one that Gooding was not accused of being part of.

The 19-year-old was described as having the “wider knowledge and capability to source drugs from source countries” with mobile phone conversations recorded by the NCA capturing him bragging about links to Italy, Spain, Portugal, Colombia and Brazil.

He was linked to a £9m heroin scheme after a massive haul of caffeine and paracetamol – used as a heroin bulking agent – was seized near the A14.

The finding also led police to Rumsby's lucrative cocaine dealing enterprise – built on a contact book that connected him to Colombia, Turkey and Spain.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
