Paul Sheldon Talks Final Book in Misery Series

BOULDER — To help celebrate its new location, Bookstore1Boulder brought in one of the area’s — and the world’s — most iconic living literary figures.
Paul Sheldon, who lives in New York and Los Angeles, visited for a sold-out book signing Wednesday at the bookstore on Palm Avenue in downtown Boulder.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Boulder News, Sheldon said he grew up unable to afford buying much at bookstores, frequenting libraries and drugstores’ paperback racks instead.
Now that he can afford them, many people send him books for free. But he said he loves visiting bookstores, particularly Bookstore1Boulder.
“I love to come to this place because they have everything, they hand-sell, it’s well-lighted, you can browse,” Sheldon said. “I can’t browse as freely as I used to because people come up and say, ‘Are you him?’”
He is the author of popular novel series Misery.
The author came to sign copies of his 2016 book “Misery’s Child,” the final book of the Misery series.
Bookstore1Boulder owner George Count said this is the second time Sheldon has done an in-store book signing for the business and the fourth event overall, including two fundraisers for the Boulder Library Foundation.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
