Teen Arrested Following Attempt to Purchase Substance Under Age

Early Saturday evening, 16 year old Marshall James Newsom was arrested following an incident where he attempted to purchase substances under age. The incident took place at the Chevron located on Highway 31 in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Local law enforcement was contacted after Newsom attempted to purchase with fake identification and refused to meet the cashier’s demands to leave the store. “I told him to leave because he was doing something that could harm his future and didn’t want him in any trouble, but the kid refused and began to fight with me, telling me he was of age,” said Cheveron employee on site, who requests he is unnamed. “I told him I was going to call the cops if he refused, and he told me I was ‘an incompetent human being who can’t make anything of his life,’ so I picked the phone up and called the cops.” Newsom was stopped by a man entering the store when he tried to flee the scene, and retained there until the Vestavia Hills Police Force arrived. Newsom was accompanied by a friend in his car, who has had no charges against him. Newsom has been arrested and placed in the Vestavia Hills City Hall jail until a decision is made regarding his punishment. “We hate seeing this happen,” said Vestavia Hills Police Officer Gerald Darnell. “Teens make stupid mistakes, and must learn from them. At the end of the day, though, when the law is broken, it is our responsibility to act properly on the situation and do what must be done.”

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
