Burrillville, RI. On Tuesday night at Levy Rink in Burrillville, the Swamp Donkeys (9-2-0) and the Taco Shop (7-3-0) will face each other for the final time this season. The Donkeys took the first game between these two in convincing fashion, beating Taco Shop by a score of 8-1. The game didn’t go as smooth on the physical side of things, however, as a couple of fights broke out towards the end of the game. At the end of the day, the Donkeys went home happy while Taco Shop clearly had some work to do.

That they did. Since the first meeting between the two teams, Taco Shop has won 7 of its last 10 games and saw themselves climb in the standings. While still behind the Swamp Donkeys, members of the Donkeys can’t help but notice the sudden resurgence.

“Yeah, they’re a solid team, can’t deny that. We got the better of them early on in the season and we just need to play the way we played that day and we’ll be fine,” said captain Tyler Hopkins after this mornings optional skate.

A few weeks after that first game, these two played a non-league scrimmage game. The game started out friendly, but ended abruptly after a line brawl broke out. The game was suspended after Swamp Donkeys backup goalie Brett was tossed for fighting.

It has now been a couple of months since these two teams have seen each other, so things may have cooled off, but Forward Eric Breault has a feeling there is still some bad blood eternal the two teams.

“Well you have to kind of put that stuff in the back of your mind in order to focus on the next opponent, but when you play them again, it’s something that comes back up you know? There was some bad tatstes left in some of our mouths after that one, on both sides I’m sure, so we’ll see what happens tonight. Hopefully we can just play some hockey,” Breault said.

For the Donkeys, they have won 5 of they’re last 7 games since the first one against Taco Shop, which helps them keep pace at the top of the standings, only trailing the Coyotes, but have two games in hand over them. The Donks are coming off one of their better wins of the season after beating up on Good Luck Ace 7-1 two weeks ago. After a week off, they look to get right back on track. But, that’s not always easy to do according to former assistant captain Ian Dinges.

“After a week off, the legs take a little longer to get going, but as long as we stick to the game plan and give it our best effort out there we’ll be okay,” Dinges said.

This week off has also given the beaten up Donkeys time to get healthier. After missing the last 5 games with an upper body injury, defenseman John Hanley looks to be a go for tonight’s game. Assistant Captain Jordan Lapierre seems to be feeling better after suffering some back pain, although did not miss any time, took a little toll on his performance. Captain Jared Beabeu couldn’t be more thrilled about this news.

“Yeah Hanley is a uuuge part of this team and we really missed him back there on D bailing us out of jams. As of right now he’s considered a game time decision, but if he’s a go he’ll be put right in there getting his regular minutes, we’ll obviosuly keep an eye on him, if need be he can take a little extra rest out there, but he’s not planning on that,” Bebeau said.

There was an optional skate this morning, however it looks like Tyler Hopkins was the only one in attendance, so we could not get a chance to see what the lines for tonight’s game are going to be. There were some rumors going around that there might be a few tweaks to the lineups, but again we can’t say for sure. If we had to guess, this is what they will look like:

E. Breault-Hole-Casavant
Hopkins-Lapierre-Dinges

Hanley-J. Breault
Cuneo-Wild Bill

Bebeau

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
