The film by Giorgos Lanthimos "The Favourite" is claiming ten Oscars. But who knows the direct connection of the successful Greek director with basketball teams Pagrati and AEK Athens?

On Monday morning (25/2), Greek director claims the golden statuette in the big categories, such as Best Film, First Female and Second Female - with two nominations (Emma Stone and Rachel Weiss), Director and Prototype Scenario. Also, "Favourite" is also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Editing, Costume, Photography, Artistic Directorate.

Within a few hours we will know which or which of these awards will end up in favor of "Favoumenis", with Giorgos Lanthimos now winning on the platform, but several years ago, the main area of ??his activity was the basketball parquet!

Having picked up the "gods" of the orange goddess from his late father, Antonis (who left only 24 hours after the announcement of Oscar nominees), who in the 1960s and 1970s was one of the most important members of the big Pangrati team, even reaching the National Team, Giorgos Lanthimos dealt with and even actively.

Starting from the Pangrati academies, he climbed the club's ranks, reaching the men's team, with whom he fought the 1991/1992 season, coached by Apostolos Kontos in the A1 Basket League , with three appearances! His great love, however, was AEK Athens, where he managed to get the next season with seven appearances, but the plans of the family for studying abroad forced him to abandon professional basketball early. However, until 10 years ago when he still lived in Greece, he often went to watch live AEK Athens!

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
