Millions of people have been posting their political opinions for years, hoping to change the minds of friends and family. But new data shows that you may be wasting your time.

According to a study at Yale University, a political post showing that Democrats are stupid, or Republicans are heartless, changed the minds of 0 friends out of 3 billion Facebook users.

The data also showed that "liking" or "laughing" at the post does not change the amount of people who change their minds about political issues.

Facebook recently allowed users to place funny GIFs in the comment section. This too showed no data to suggest that funny GIFs changes the minds of friends and family.

The study also shines some light on users who opens Facebook on their phone, finds a funny meme and puts the phone with said meme in the face of a family member at a gathering. Of the 327 million samples taken, everyone who "laughed" at said meme was actually faking it so that the family member would stop holding the phone in their face.

Professor Robinson elaborates, "If you look at the data closely, it's almost as if users of Facebook aren't looking for the political opinions of their friends and family when they log on. Almost all users that were asked said they wanted to see cute photos of kids and pets, that's it." The professor continued, "As for showing off memes at family gatherings, we were surprised to find out that those who were part of the study were hoping to visit with family during these events, not look at their phone. One of the adults in the study said 'Can't I just look at a meme at home, alone?'"

The professor doesn't expect anything to change soon though. "People think their political opinions matter, when in reality they don't. Politicians don't care what you think and neither do your Facebook friends."

More data was done to see how many posts would be left if all political posts were stopped, the study found that Facebook would be a barren, Trumpless, Elizabeth Warrenless wasteland of positivity. Some researchers said things would reverse back to ancient times, when people would post pictures of their food, or happy events in their life.

Some people in the study didn't realize there were other buttons on the Facebook app other then the "share" button. The professor said that is part of why there is so much being shared, "People like to push buttons, and Facebook places the 'share' button in a spot that makes it so tempting to push that people can't help themselves. Couple that with the false feeling of making the world a better place and you get where we are today."

The professor has started a recovery group for those who share too much. The meetings are full of people who sit in a circle and try not to share their political opinions. If someone does, everyone in the group stands up, points at them and yells "SHARING TIME IS OVER!"

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
