Top Ultra Festival DJs to Perform on Long Island City Waterfront in Rare USA Encore

The Ultra Music Festival which kicked off on Friday, March 29th came to a colossal 3 day finish late Sunday evening on Virginia Key. Hundreds of Thousands of revelers descended onto Virginia Key Beach Park and Miami Marine Stadium to witness the largest electronic music festival in the world.

Tickets to this years event ran from $399 for general admission for the three days to $1,499.95 for a VIP ticket. This years headliners included big international Dj circuit names like Carl Cox, The Chainsmokers, Tiesto and Afrojack.

While there were initial shuttle bus delays arising from Miami bus depot glitches, event organizers sprung into action and the 3 day event concluded without major incident. "This has not, is not and will never be the Fyre Festival" said event organizer Jeremy Quinn. "We operate from a place of love, unity, community and music and all of that and more was on display this weekend."

Last years unannounced Ultra Music Festival Encore, which features a single day set of a dozen leading Ultra acts took place on Croatia's Hvar Islands. In years past locations have ranged from Lisbon, Sao Paulo, Estonia to Paris.

Early Monday morning, it was announced that this year's 1 day free encore event will be held in New York City on the Long island City Waterfront marina. Residents and city planners are bracing for the crowds. Long time Long Island City resident, Mary Hersher echoed the sentiment of many "We are all supporters of Ultra and dance music the same way we support and use Amazon, but we just don't want this in our city."

For now, the 1 day event is a go and has received the necessary permits from the NYC and Queens Park Services Department. City planner, Rosia Sanchez, said "we have hundreds of events on the waterfront every year, this is like no other. We look forward to welcoming these top tier international DJ's for a day and evening of spectacular life changing sounds and mind altering laser lights next Sunday. Everyone just needs to leave by 10PM. Its a school night and this is a family community."

While it might be over for us here in Biscayne Bay, for the lucky few that can swing a trip to New York City, it looks like there's still more to come from Ultra.

The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
