Samsung has publicly apologized for utilizing child labor in the manufacturing of their products. They've been criticized of this before, but never spoke on the matter. When asked this question in a recent interview, Samsung CEO DJ Koh stated that "We are deeply sorry for utilizing child labor in the production of our devices. We believe this is a very serious matter that could not be ignored any further. We believe this is an immoral act, but it is a crucial step in keeping our prices lower than Apple's." Later in the same interview, DJ Koh clarified that Samsung "will continue child labor in their factories." and that "Samsung is planning to team up with Huawei to expand their inventory of underrated kids in their manufacturing plants at an even faster rates."

While being asked about his worries of breaking international law, DJ Koh stated that "This is indeed legal." Article 19 of the International Bill of Human Rights states that "Any corporate entity based in the Republic of Korea with a name starting with "S" is legally allowed to employ underaged children and forcefully make them do illegal acts as well as other acts deemed inhumane or immoral." Samsung has since added a new section to their hiring page on their official website under the title "Hiring Children"

Since the interview, officials of other big companies have commented against Samsung, including Apple's CEO, Tim Cooke. In a recent tweet, he stated that "Samsung shall be prosecuted for immoral acts, as well as beating us in the phone market in many countries including but not limited to China and South Korea. This should not be allowed, no one should be beating us in the smartphone market." DJ Koh soon replied to the tweet, saying, "salty much?" Then a full on Twitter war broke out, with some users going as far as sending death threats to the CEOs.

Just today, Samsung has said that, "Because of all the backlash we have received in the past few weeks, we will start reconsidering the management in our factoring plants and begin punishing immoral acts against children in our factories, as well as removing younger children from the factories."

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
