It appears President Trump in an unusual change of heart has decided to fight gun rights following the federal appeals court decision in Maryland.
In a quick comment made to National Public Radio journalist Celeste Anders Trump said, "This is a no brainer. So many lives, some of the greatest lives, ones who never had a chance to grow up in this great country, have been lost due to these types of weapons. It's sad."
“We are convinced that the banned assault weapons and large-capacity magazines are among those arms that are ‘like’ M-16 rifles — ‘weapons that are most useful in military service’ — which the Heller Court singled out as being beyond the Second Amendment’s reach,” wrote Judge Robert King.
“Put simply, we have no power to extend Second Amendment protection to the weapons of war that the Heller decision explicitly excluded from such coverage.”
Those types of weapons have been used in several recent high-profile mass shootings, including a rampage inside a movie theater playing “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora, Colorado, in 2012; another at Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, in 2015; and last year’s at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Despite these occurrences, only seven states have banned selling or owning assault rifles: California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
