State officials are calling for people to avoid the water in Table Rock Lake during the upcoming holiday. Missouri officials, with the Game and Parks, have confirmed the catch of a female bullshark.

According to Mike Josep, a spokesman for the Parks Department, a local fishing guide reported the catch early Thursday. The guide, Mark Green, had a father son group on board when the fish was hooked. Initial thought was a massive flathead catfish. Even after the half hour fight the shape and shadow led them to believe they had a state record on their hands. It wasn't until the fish was almost landed did Mark realize the surprise. "I was in complete shock, like lottery shock. I immediately was on the phone reporting it. Probably dropped plenty of bad words in front of my customers" said Mark.

Mr. Josep confirmed and weighed the catch at 75lbs. A biologist was called in and it was then discovered that it had recently given birth. "Bullsharks are concerning, they can leave oceans and travel up freshwater. We are also concerned there may be others. This species alone has been responsible for more shark attacks than all other sharks combined" said Josep. We asked why Table Rock? "There could be a combination of factors. She could have been a pet or because of the warming waters and recent flooding, she may have found refuge in the perfect place. This could be trouble" Josep.

Needless to say, the Game and Parks as well as other state and federal agencies will be conducting test.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
