Las Vegas (AP)
In what is expected to be a controversial move, the Raiders organization, in addition to a new city, will now have a new look and a new name, the ‘Sin City Raiders”. The Raiders organization originated as a founding member club of the league's American Football Conference (AFC) West division, playing their first regular season game on September 11, 1960.
In a guileful move, owner Mark Davis, attainted majority consensus from NFL Owners to rebrand the ‘Raiders’ to the ‘Sin City Raiders. In private, team officials have conceded that the move is to align themselves more with city officials vision of what the organization can do to mutually benefit the city as well as the organization, this considering the city of Las Vegas providing most of the funding to the new stadium. Team officials addressed the costs of the project with the public entity overseeing the partially tax-funded stadium being built across a freeway from the Las Vegas Strip. That venue alone has a total price tag of $1.8 billion. Unnamed officials within the city of Las Vegas has voiced concerned with the “Raider” namesake. Given that the team’s current mascot is a pirate, what sense does that make in a city famous for being plopped in the middle of a desert? The city of Las Vegas has a global name appeal, one that is not lost on Raider owner Mark Davis. “From China to England and everywhere in between, the Sin City Raiders will have a unique opportunity to reach a global audience and expand our footprint to various countries around the world. When asked about the hot pink tie, that will be emblazed on the team logo during October, owner Mark Davis responded…why not? Still, I want “Sin City Nation” to know that we are holding true to our heritage. First and foremost, this organization is committed to excellence, as well as the pride we have in our traditions, as such, and whatever we call ourselves, or however we look, our loyal fanbase will follow as we begin our new journey into creating a dynasty of champions. Team officials have been more straightforward. Yes, other teams have moved and brought names that don’t quite fit their new environments. People still make fun of the incongruity of “Utah Jazz,”. Despite acrimony with the current Raider leadership, a coalition of fans has hired high-profile New York sports attorney to lead a lawsuit against the Raiders to keep the team name and colors. The last-ditch effort hopes to follow the same strategy that forced the Cleveland Browns to become the Baltimore Ravens and opened the door for a revival of the Browns after a brief hiatus. Raiders fans are known for their outlandish costumes at Oakland Coliseum’s “Black Hole,”. When fans around the stadium first learned of the change, many fell silent in disbelief and refused to give comment on the change. The new look and name change is expected to take place during the “Sin City Raiders” for the 2020 season.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
