I like all things vintage. I collected cards, letters, jewelry, even... newspapers. Last summer I found an old Daily Planet Issue while cleaning up my late grandmother's basement. A line caught my eye:

'Detective McMillan mentioned that his thorough research about Dorino led to a dead end...'

"OOOOH MYYY GOD! " I thought "This is a retro murder case!"
Actually, it was much more sinister. This was a case about a woman disappearing completely, as well as the detective that researched her.

Alice Dorino was a woman that suddenly appeared in New York and was involved in many unexplained cases. Like her calling a detective and leading him to a mob hideout, disappearing and appearing in the police department randomly, crashing on the detectives car and having no ID or other evidence she ever existed. No wonder they called her the Ghost Woman. Also she had quite the social life. Hmm...

As you can imagine I was curious out of my mind. I needed to know more! I started researching that woman but, as you can imagine, found nothing. The only thing I found was general information about detective McMillan. I posted a photo of the article on every social media imaginable.

Two months passed and nothing. I almost forgot about it and one day I got a message and an article in Russian, dating back to 1917. I wasn't able to translate it completely, but from what I made out of google translate, it was a piece about Lenin. I contacted this person and asked what was this with terrible google-translated Russian.
They replied with English: "Not that. Look good at the picture on other page.".
It was a picture of an art festival, or something like that, and there in the croud... There was no doubt. I was so confused. It was the same woman, looking exactly the same age as in the Daily Planet issue. Staring straight into the camera. What the actual hell.

Was she some kind of secret Soviet spy? I was so intrigued!

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
