Bunnings today announced that they will be officially ending the weekend snags and BBQ by replacing them with Vegan friendly salads as of this weekend.

The move has prompted a mix reaction from customers as Bunnings looks to get more environmentally and health conscious vegan hipsters through their doors.

Mike Schneider - CEO of Bunnings said in a statement; "it's important as a business we move with the times, we are seeing more and more Australians ditch meat and switch to vegan friendly options we simply couldn't ignore this trend."

But while Bunnings feels they have made the right move, many believe they will be driving away sales. In 2018 Bunnings recorded a profit of $1.2bil in sausage sales alone. The new vegan range will include sliced zucchini or eggplant in bread, raw lettuce cups and mixed seeds. The humble can of coke has also been given the flick, replaced with organic sugar and fat free water.

Cactus enthusiast and Byron Bay local Glenda said "I love plants, I have a personal connection with the earth and its spirit, there is nothing more enjoyable then hugging my cacti each and every day, I can't wait to get into my local Bunnings and browse the plant isle while chomping on a raw lettuce cup. However truck driver Mick said "If I hear another person tell me that I should eat plants I reckon' i'll spew my guts up, there is nothing more Australian than a Bunnings snag on a Sunday."

Time will tell if this move will be a marketing masterstroke or a mega disaster.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
