A CHILD rapist was left bloodied after being battered by residents of an inner city community when they learned he was staying 100 yards from two primary schools.

Paedophile Alan Breslin (24) jumped from a pub roof and fled in terror at 9pm on Wednesday only to be chased by a group of up to 25 adults and teenagers who had learned he had been staying in a B&B in inner-city Ashbourne for a week.

One of the group who chased "Brezzo" yesterday said after residents caught up with him he got a few “slaps to the face”, leaving him with a bloodied nose, before gardai removed him for his own safety.

"Brezzo" — who is on the sex offenders register for life after being convicted of a horrific child rape — is understood to have been moving between B&Bs in Ashbourne and the surrounding areas for several months. He was attacked after details of his past went viral on Facebook.

One resident who was part of the group who chased "Brezzo" told The Star: “We’re not a mob and we’re not vigilantes… we’re parents who don’t want this animal living in our community.”

The resident said they reported him to gardai but officers said their “hands are tied” because he had served his time.

The resident said a group of five went to the B&B to “talk to him”, and added: “At that stage there was about 20 more people outside the pub but a lot of them were just teenagers who were hanging on.”

“There was chanting and then the group found he’d jumped off the back roof of the pub Kelly's and ran off towards Milltown Pitch.”

The resident said: “People caught up to him at the edge of the pitch and he did get a few slaps… but he deserved a few slaps.

“He needs to be taught that we don’t want him or any other of his kind in Ashbourne.”

The resident said gardai arrived but said they couldn’t arrest him because he hadn’t committed a crime. They bundled him into a patrol car when “people were still trying to get at him”.

The resident added: “The real question is who put him there? Whoever it was needs to explain why they put him up in a place 100 yards from St Mary’s Boys and Girls National School.

A major alert surrounding his presence in Ashbourne occurred last year after it was claimed he had been seen lurking outside a primary school with his "lad in his hand"

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
