Everett Man Arraigned in Fatal Shooting of Stoneham Man in Everett

EVERETT - District Attorney Marian Ryan and Everett Chief of Police Steven Mazzie have announced that Cu Do, 59, of Everett, was arraigned today in Malden District Court and charged with murder, armed robbery, carjacking and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the fatal shooting of Gary Duff-Turcotte, 21, of Stoneham, that occurred just after 2:00 p.m. yesterday in the area of Ferry Street and Chelsea Street in Everett. Judge William Fitzpatrick revoked the defendant's bail on an open case out of Middlesex Superior Court. The defendant was ordered held without bail on today's case. The next court date is Tuesday, November 29, 2016.
On Sunday, November 6, 2016, the defendant allegedly had arranged to meet the victim on Ferry Street in Everett to purchase marijuana. Prior to the meeting the victim expressed apprehension about meeting with the defendant including texting his fiancé earlier that day that he planned to do a drug deal that afternoon but that he feared he would be robbed. After the defendant entered the car and sat in the back seat he allegedly assaulted the victim, as another unknown man wearing a ski mask approached the driver’s side door. After the victim was shot, the female occupant and the victim were able to get out of the vehicle and the defendant got into the driver’s seat and drove away in the victim’s car. The preliminary investigation suggests that the defendant was allegedly attempting to rob the victim and used the car to flee. When the victim refused to exit the vehicle, Herring allegedly shot the victim in the chest. The victim then got out of the car and ran until collapsing as a result of the gunshot wound. The other male fled the scene in another vehicle.
Following the incident Turcotte was transported to CHA Everett Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Over the course of the investigation into the incident and through witness descriptions investigators were able to identify the defendant as the likely shooter. Investigators were ultimately able to determine the defendant's location by using the GPS coordinates of the bracelet he was wearing as a bail condition of a current open case out of Middlesex Superior Court last month prior of car jacking and unlaw possesion of a firearm.
This investigation is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office and the Everett Police Department. Boston Police assisted with the morning's arrest of Herring.
These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Jessica Noble. The Victim Witness Advocate is Kristen Chamberlain.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
