North Smithfield, R.I. With only six games remaining on the schedule, the injury bug seems to be hitting the Donkeys locker room all at once. Last week, forward Jordan Lapierre suffered a wrist injury and battled through substantial pain in a 10-4 Donkeys win over the Fussy Puckers. As of now, Lapierre looks to be in tonight’s lineup, however is still being evaluated.

“Yeah it’s definitely feeling much better after getting some treatment this past week. We’ll see how it feels in pre game warmups and take it from there, but I plan on playing for sure,” Lapierre said after this mornings optional practice, which he skipped in order to get more treatment.

This week we have another injury heading into the game. This time, it’ll keep goaltender Jared Bebeau out of the game with a back injury. Bebeau tweaked his back during a drill at practice over the weekend and it has gotten worse each day since. Management had no other choice but to place him on injured reserve (IR) and recall Bryan Gallant on emergency basis from the Absolute Mules. Bebeau is taking it day by day and hopeful this won’t be long term.

“Just an unfortunate injury, really. At a bad time in the season too. The team is really starting to click on all cylinders and as much as I want to be out there helping the boys out, I know it’s best to give it a rest, take it day by day, and hopefully get back out there next week,” Bebeau said at his stall this morning after receiving some treatment.

As for Gallant, this will be his second start in three games for the Donkeys and is excited to get in there again.

“This was very unexpected and it’s an unfortunate situation for the team but at the same time I’m thankful the team trusts me to get in there and I’m going to give my best effort out there and try to get the boys a big W,” Gallant said after arriving at the rink this morning before practice.

As for tonight’s game, the Donkeys (12-3-0) will be taking on Inferno (7-6-1) in what shapes out to be one heck of a game. The last time these two met, the Donkeys edged out Inferno 6-5 in an epic 3rd period come from behind win. The Donkeys will be looking for their 4th straight win tonight. The game is set to start at 10:30PM ET at the Rhode Island Sports Center.

Casavant - Hole - Dinges

Defense

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
