Last Thursday, a 24 inch pipe burst on Cherry Road in Rock Hill, SC. The pipe burst caused a lowered water pressure for homes in surrounding areas and a loss of 60 million gallons of water. The pipe was later removed and people were advised to boil their water before consumption.

As it turns out the pipe was planned on being replaced in a year and a half, as the pipe it self was surprisingly 60 years old. The pipe was replaced and water pressure returned to normal in every home affected, yet the boil water advisory still remained. This was due to the fact that the water needed to be tested for contaminants. On Friday, it was determined that the water was safe to drink and everything could return to normal.

That is, until the next discovery unfolded. On the scene a Fiji™? water bottle was found, but nothing was thought of it. But, when the pipe was inspected and traces of plastic were found, the bottle was retrieved and sent for examination. After testing, the bottle was traced to Fort Mill, coming from Catawba Ridge High School. The bottle had somehow gotten into the high school’s plumbing system and, due to the bottle’s shape and nature, punctured the already weak pipe in Rock Hill.

The school will be questioned October 15th on the presence of the bottle in their system. More information on this story as it unfolds.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
