A Bowling Green woman is charged with felony assault on a police officer and a deputy jailer after the Bowling Green Police Department responded to report of a disturbance in the 100 block of Windover Avenue.

A witness called police at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday and reported that a white woman in a white T-shirt was beating on the windows of a white truck. The witness said the woman brought property out of an apartment, beat on the truck and went back to the apartment more than once. He said she hit the driver’s side window, eventually shattering the glass.

Police later found Kaitlin Annette Martin 18, walking from an apartment, according to police records. Martin was unsteady on her feet and smelled of alcohol, according to police records. She told police she was in an argument with a friend and said she was bringing property to his truck so he would leave. She denied breaking the window.

When police asked The friend how the window of his truck was shattered, he said he didn’t know and declined to make a damage report with police, according to police records.

While several residents were standing outside, Martin began to scream obscenities. Officer Colton Billhartz told Martin to quiet down or he would arrest her on a disorderly conduct charge, records show. She told Billhartz that East assaulted her and when asked why she didn’t call police, she said she doesn’t call police.

Martin began yelling again and screamed an obscenity at Billhartz before telling him she was going back to her apartment. He told her to come back, but she walked away and Bilhartz attempted to arrest Martin After some struggle, Billhartz put handcuffs on Martin. When they arrived at Warren County Regional Jail, she told Billhartz she wasn’t going inside, records show.

When Billhartz got Martin out of the car, she fell to the ground and threatened in a profane manner to kick him in the groin, according to police records. The officer stood her back up and as he walked Beckham into the jail, she fell again, this time taking Billhartrz with her. As Billhartz stood Martin up one more time, she kicked his left leg at least once and kicked his right leg once, according to police records.

Inside the jail, Martin was sitting in a processing room, uncuffed, when she fell and appeared to have a seizure. Prior to the seizure she had told police she had epilepsy and a jail nurse medically cleared her. As Billhartz took photos of bruises on Martin, she opened her eyes and, according to police, hit Deputy Jailer Chasity Phelps in the chest with what appeared to be a closed fist. Another deputy jailer used a Taser on Martin and handcuffed her again.

Martin is charged with third-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree assault (inmate assault on correction officer), second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and alcohol intoxication in a public place, according to online jail records. Martin is in jail in lieu of a $6,000 bond.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
