The Screen Door's annual Christmas Open House is this Friday Nov 4th and Saturday Nov 5th. Doors open at 9:00am. The popular local shop specializes in handcrafted home decor, custom furniture and one of a kind pieces from local artisans.

Located in historic Greenville, Kentucky this primitives and gift shop has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere where everyone is welcome to sit and chat with the wonderful staff. People statewide and beyond visit The Screen Door to visit the local shop mascot, a rescued kitty named Ms. Lucy.

Wooden signs and plaques, wreaths, country decor and primitives adorn the building. A calm, down to earth atmosphere is a welcome change from the crowded big box stores. Amish goods are sold here as well as the famous Candleberry candle line. If your looking for recycled and upcycled items they have you covered. They can even build cabinets, tables, shelf units and even complete kitchens to your specs.

Expansion and additional product lines are planned for the new year. Custom framing is in the works soon. Rumors are stirring of the possibility of a line of coffees, spices, sweets as well as their handmade ghee and compound butters. All natural cleaners and detergents are expected to line shelves soon and we have been told to expect a major expansion into the food service area via a small take out shop or food truck......info will be updated when available.

If your looking for a great place to stop on your next road trip or looking for that one of a kind gift for that someone special, The Screen Door in Big John Plaza, Greenville, KY is a must.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
