"Clown Squad" Vandalizes Garbage Cans in Area City Parks

CHATRUEX, MI - Chatruex City Police are investigating the mysterious vandalism to over 300 City-maintained trash receptacles in area parks. In most cases the trash cans appear to have been thrown around or beaten with bats and clubs, according to one park worker. At least 12 cans were reportedly set ablaze with diesel fuel.

"At this time we do not believe there is any motive other than creating public fear", stated Chatruex Police Captian Bobby Kline.

The group of clowns was observed on at least one park surveillance camera at approximately 1:30 AM on Wednesday night. Many of them were armed with sticks or clubs, according to the Park Ranger who reported the incident to police.

By 2PM on Wednesday afternoon, a Facebook post by the author "CLOWNSQUAD" claimed responsibility for the vandalism. In addition to posting cryptic messages and photos of the vandalism, the author promised, "additional attacks will take place - beware!"

Police are still investigating all leads. No arrests have been made.

Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
