As the sun set on the evening of October the 14th, band manager Thomas Vercetti cancelled a scheduled Mandolin Orange concert set months in advance for Shaker's Hideaway in Virginia Beach, VA on the grounds that the violin playing half of the duo Mandolin Orange had become ill and would be unable to perform, reports venue manager Frank Persh. Persh immediately began sending the news out on the venue's various social media profiles with the promise of refunded ticket prices for all presale tickets. "The show," Frank lamented on Facebook "has been cancelled due to poor health on the part of singer Emily Frantz. All presale tickets will be refunded. Sorry guys, no further information is available at this time."
The post which received upwards of 600 shares on Facebook was flooded with comments inquiring about the details of Emily's condition along with a host of well wishes. "By 8pm that evening had come along," recalls Persh "I was told doctors officially took Ms. Frantz off life support. Out of respect for the family and at the request of the group's songwriter and long time boyfriend to Ms. Frantz, Andrew Marlin, the decision was made to keep the news of her tragic demise under wraps long enough for memorial and rememberance services to be conducted."
General manager of the Radisson hotel in Virginia Beach where the band had been staying, when contacted for comment, responded via email with an official statement which read:
"On the morning of October the 14th hotel security entered the room of Ms. Frantz after several noise complaints were filed for loud music. When security arrived at the door several attempts to reach Ms. Frantz via room phone and cell phone were attempted all of which were ignored. At that time security unlocked the door to Ms. Frantz room only to be greeted by the room in utter disarray. Several thousand dollars in damage was done to the room and an overwhelming smell of burnt plastic permeated the entirety of the unit. Ms. Frantz was found unresponsive laying beside the bed surrounded by various drug paraphernalia and still smoldering cigarette butts. At that time 911 was called and shortly thereafter arrived and administered CPR to Ms. Frantz while beginning transport to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Upon arrival Ms. Frantz was found to have a very faint heartbeat and no apparent brain activity. By approximately 8pm that evening the decision was made by her family to remove her from life support. She was pronounced dead by Virginia Beach Medical Examiner at 8:13PM. Cause of death was ruled as involuntary drug overdose."

Emily Frantz was just 31 years old.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
