North Smithfield, RI. Despite the Swamp Donkeys outplaying the Jabronis for most of last nights semi-final game 1, they find themselves in a deep hole heading into game 2 tonight at Rhode Island Sports Center. But that was all almost a wash as the Jabronis were questioned by league officials on the eligibility of their goaltender prior to puck drop. By rule, all players, including the goalie, have to play a certain amount of games in order to be eligible to play in the post season. If the starting goalie can’t make it, a goalie within the league must be brought in to sub. If no goalie is available, a goalie from the outside can be brought in upon clarification between both teams. However, the Jabronis did not fallow protocol, and were in danger of forfeiting the game to the Swamp Donkeys.

Regardless, the game was played with a “protest” tag on it, which means it will be taken to league offices and a decision will be made after the game has concluded.

The Jabronis would end up victorious by a score of 3-1. They jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but Tyler Hopkins tied the game from a stellar pass from John Hanley. The game remained tied until the Jabronis scored 2 unanswered goals in the 3rd period to ultimately win the game.

“It was a hard fought game, we played well as a whole, just needed a little extra there at the end, but we can’t let it get to us, we have to turn around here quick because we’re right back at it tomorrow,” Ian Dinges told reporters after the game.

Luckily for the Jabronis, the league sided with them, and agreed that the goalie had played in enough games to be eligible, and the game stood as is. The Swamp Donkeys now find themselves in a 0-1 hole in this best of 3 series with the season on the line in game 2 tonight.

“It’s unfortunate, but we’re moving on. We know we can beat this team and we just need to work harder tonight. This is it, it’s the season on the line, so you better believe you’ll see us give every ounce of energy we have,” Tom Taddeo, who returned to the lineup in a huge way after battling injuries the last few weeks said after the game.

Tonight should be fun to watch. Puck drop is set for 10:10 PM. Tonight’s lineup should look similar to last night, with an exception to the extra forward switching spots.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
