Nintendo Reveals Princess Zelda is Pansexual

Nintendo is making history with a new change.
The Nintendo Switch is set to receive a massive boost in popularity and that momentum has come to a head with the release of a new character. Mario and Zelda are leaving their iconic swords behind for some fresh air, and a new female character is standing in their place.
Princess Zelda is a name that many fans of the classic Nintendo franchise will be familiar with. She isn’t just any traditional character, however. She is bisexual.
Pansexual profile and backstory
Nintendo broke new ground for the gaming industry on Wednesday (31 May) by revealing a newly created profile for Zelda on their official website, and the character’s background isn’t all that clichéd.
She has entered the famous lives of Mario and Luigi, but as the majority of the Mario and Zelda games are focused on the brothers, it seems as though she is switching the narrative for a little while.
The profiles do not focus on the character’s sexual orientation, but rather its overall experience of life. In a span of 30 minutes, the fan site for the character tweeted out a brief profile explaining why the character decided to become a part of the community, and she had a lot to say.
She said: “For whatever reason, in the Zelda world, my life is essentially a constant search for adventure. My job is to figure out how to make the impossible possible. How do I live for all the challenges? How do I live for me? What’s that ideal way to exist, and what am I looking for to help me get there?”
The fandom was pleased to see the announcement and many celebrated the character for embracing her sexuality. “I think that’s awesome. I mean…it’s absolutely awesome,” wrote one user.
“Pretty amazing news considering that no Nintendo character has ever revealed their sexuality before,” said another.
This isn’t the first time there has been a strong push for companies to portray more diversity in gaming. Back in 2017, two high-profile games with diverse protagonists broke records, including Sony’s Horizon Zero Dawn, which broke records for Twitch viewers and Microsoft’s PUBG.

Nintendo has a long history
Nintendo made the announcement on social media the same day it also showed the first glimpse of the Splatoon 2: Splat Fest event – which promises to be more than just a game.
The game is set to launch later this year, but the events taking place between now and 3 August 2019 will focus on Splatoon 2 in a major way. There will be beta events for the game from 8 June, with a special Splatoon 2-themed art spread being released to mark the event.

The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
