Man Shot Multiple Times On Busy Olney Street; Three Men In Custody

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — One shooting suspect is in custody after a man was shot multiple times in broad daylight on a busy street in the city’s Olney section.

Police say it happened just before 12 Monday in the 5800 block of Old York Road, where a 29-year-old man was shot five times right in front of a daycare center.


Witnesses told police one of the gunman ran off, ducking into a rowhouse around the corner, in the 5900 block of marvine Street. Authorities say he refused come out, so they treated it as a barricade situation, and the SWAT team moved in.


Less than 30 minutes later, one of the suspected shooters were in custody the police are still trying to find a suspect Tybre Stallings police ask that anyone who has information as to the identity/whereabouts of the suspect(s) involved in this crime contact the philadelphia Police Department at

The wounded man was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he’s listed in critical condition, and described by police as uncooperative.

There was no initial word on a motive.

    whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
