Man Charged With Possession of Drugs and Firearm

West Chicago Police report a 20-year-old local man is being held on $200,000 bail this week following his arrest on drug and firearm charges after officers responded to an aggravated assault complaint.
Michael A. Massey of West Chicago was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and aggravated assault, said the West Chicago Police Department.
The investigation began with a 911 call around 12:50 p.m. Monday where a witness said they saw a man with a gun and felt threatened.
Officers learned of an address at the Parkside apartments and apprehended Massey there without incident, officers added, saying that Massey was hiding there from officers.
Police also found a safe and got a search warrant to open it. Altogether, police found 328 grams of powder crack cocaine, 50 grams of marijuana, $620 in cash and several items of drug paraphernalia, like digital scales and baggies, adding that officers also found a Colt Python .357 magnum handgun.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild.
