Saturday Evening at approximately 10:30, Lake County police officer, John Guttierez, recieved a report from a local of the highland area stating that a group of cars were street racing up and down US 41. She told police she was going the speed limit of 35 and 3 cars accelerated past her at speeds she approximated to be over 80 mph. She was unable to give a description of all of the vehicles but she approximated there to be 3, one was black, one was red, and one was grey. She was able to tell that the grey car was a Ford Mustang and the red one was a Dodge Challenger or Charger. There have been several reports over the past couple weeks of street racing around this area and this is the third time the grey Ford Mustang has been mentioned. The Generation of the Mustang described by the Highland woman is pictured above. Police have done a thorough search and have narrowed it down to 22 grey Ford Mustangs around the area. Now while authorities are unsure of who exactly the suspect is, detectives are looking into the driving records of the 22 suspects to see if any have committed previous traffic violations. This is an open investigation and police are doing there best to stop local street racing in trying to look out for the well being of the community. Lake County and the Highland Police have increased there patrol units around the area and will continue there search. If anyone has any information do not hesitate to call the Lake County Police Department at 219-765-3000.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
