A 25-year-old man was struck and killed while 2 others were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Pomoma

The shooting in the 2900 block of Hollander Street was reported at about 4:37 a.m., said Sgt. Jaime Gutierrez with the Pomona Police Department.

The group was outside when someone opened fire from a dark colored compact vehicle, Gutierrez said.

Brian Sims said he found his wounded brother after returning from a friends house.

"He had got shot in the upper chest ... punctured his lung," Simms said.

Emergency crews airlifted the Man, who was expected to survive, to a local hospital, Gutierrez said.

"He didn't deserve what he got ... He's only a child and that shouldn't happen to him," said Simms, who described his brother as a “good kid.”

The other 2 men wounded did appear to have any gang ties, Gutierrez said.

One of the adult males was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. Both names were withheld pending investigation and family notification.

They were described as 2 adult black males ages 29, and 31.

Investigators were searching for two men believed to have been in the dark colored four-door sedan used in the shooting, Gutierrez said.

It was unclear if the shooters had gang ties.

The shooting was the second in Pomona in two nights. A 14-year-old boy was shot in a similar style drive-by shooting across town shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported.

That victim was also taken to a hospital for treatment, the newspaper reported.

Anyone with information about the shootings was asked to contact the Police Department at 909-620-2085.

Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
