Thornton Co-Op(7-6-3) came short on their chance to be named your 2016 regional champions. They fell 1-0 to Bloom Trojans off a loss of possession around the 35 yard mark that led to a blazing shot that All-Sectional keeper Mario Graciano couldn't keep out
Putting that beside, Thornton has had a lot of individual success this year. Bringing in an All-Sectional Keeper and for the first time in their programs history having two All-state defenders. Seniors Diego Leon and Edgar Estrada have anchored the defense ever since their super-sectional run in the year of 2014 , falling to strong Normal Community 4-0.
"Edgar and Diego have turned into very strong guys back there. They have very good communication, are both strong in the air, and coordinate their teammates well." Says Coach Gonzalez. "They are also leader figures to their teammates, something that we needed coming on to this season. We started off with a brand new team. Very young. Having these two guys here helped set the example of what it takes to be a Thornton Athlete."
We would play hard and give it our every time we'd step on that field." Senior Edgar Estrada states. "Our goal every game would be to keep a clean sheets. If we kept it at that the only options would be to win or to tie." "We've been playing together for a long time now , so we pretty much know exactly how we play. That's why we have a strong chemistry on and off the field" senior Diego Leon says.
The two seniors are both yet to receive any division 1 offers, but it shouldn't take long. Colleges are very interested in the defensive duo. South Suburban College is one of their options they stated if they do not get the "right offer".

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
