Emails released today, allegedly by WikiLeaks, seem to indicate that a Galesburg area pastor was once under strong consideration to be Hillary Clinton's 2016 running mate. The emails show that Pastor Darrell Garrett was actually Clinton's first choice to be Vice President--but Garrett eventually turned down the offer. The authenticity of the emails has not yet been confirmed. Unnamed sources, who are close to Pastor Garrett, denied all of the rumors.

According to the unconfirmed emails, Clinton secretly traveled to Galesburg in early August 2016 and met with Garrett on the Galesburg Public Square--next to a large bronze statue of Carl Sandburg and a goat. The meeting is rumored to have lasted for nearly two hours.

Allegedly, Garrett wanted certain assurances and considerations in exchange for accepting the Vice President position. Clinton initially agreed to the terms and the meeting concluded with the understanding that Garrett would be nominated as Vice President. However, a few days later, Garrett apparently turned down the offer after Clinton failed to provide the items agreed to in the negotiations.

The exact items which were sought by Garrett have not been verified. However, the unauthenticated emails indicate that Garrett was seeking a large contribution (via GoFundMe) to finance repairs to his storm damaged church. Garrett was allegedly seeking a large donation (to be funded by the Clinton Foundation and the Saudi Royal family) to help fund the construction of facilities for the National Railroad Hall of Fame and a new Galesburg Public Library. It is also rumored that Garrett wanted four season tickets to attend St. Louis Cardinals' games and a beachfront vacation home in Florida. Clinton was allegedly able to obtain all of the items--except for the Cardinals' season tickets. It was at that point that the negotiations fell through and Garrett allegedly turned down the offer to be Vice President.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
