The latest addition to our growing list of interviews with Tina Turner’s fans: Michael Reeves of Biloxi, MS.

When and how did you discover Tina?

I first saw Tina on television in New Orleans. On Sundays, there was a show on MTV, where they played music from “the west” (they usually played Tina or Madonna). It was love at first sight! I remember as well that my aunt bought me some Tina cassettes in Wisconsin.

What was the first thing that attracted you to her?

Her stage persona, voice, hair… and the red lipstick, haha!

When did you first go to a Tina concert and what was it like?

It was in New Orleans, LA, during Tina’s 1996 Wildest Dreams tour. Actually, I don’t remember too much from that show. I was so exited that I couldn’t stop screaming!

You went to thirty concerts, what is your fondest memory from these concerts?

It was at the first show from her last tour, in Mobile, AL in 2009. During the song Nutbush, Tina was on ‘the claw’, dancing above the audience. I was holding a poster that said ‘Hottest Granny On Earth’. Tina saw the poster, and she started laughing! She pointed at me and said “Now you sing Nutbush!”. I was completely blown away!

What is the importance of Tina’s music, and ‘Tina fandom’, in your life?

I’ve always loved her music, from the first time I saw her on singing What’s Love Got To Do With It on television. Tina is a big part of my life: I even have a room in my house with my collection, that is completely dedicated to her!

Are you in contact with a lot of other Tina fans?

Thanks to Tina’s concerts and events, I’ve made many great friends all over the world. Having this friendship with other Tina fans is a wonderful way of sharing my own Tina experiences, especially through Facebook… and the Tina Turner Blog of course!

How do non-fans react when they hear you are so crazy about Tina Turner?

Most of my work colleagues and friends know about my ‘Tina obsession’. My partner has no choice: he just has to live with it, haha!

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
