The Montgomery Co Eagles of Mount Vernon ,Georgia coming up one game short of making the GHSA 1a Football State Playoffs under new Head Coach John Bowen. The Eagles improving from last years devastating 0-10 season. The Eagles started the season 0-6 until their long losing streak came to an end when they defeated long time rivals ,the Vikings of Treutlen County on Homecoming, 28-23. The Eagles then traveled to face the War Eagles of Jenkins County where they improved to 2-6 defeating the War Eagles 28-19. The Eagles being led defensively by All-State Senior Linebacker, Jamaal Fields. "He's a great kid. He stays alert on the defensive end and has also pitched in on our offensive success this year", stated Coach Bowen. Also, returning next year Junior Quarterback, Kris Daniels. "He has by far been the unquestioned leader of our team this year. He's a great player, shows leadership, and loves the game" ,stated Bowen. Also returning next year all-region cornerback, Sophomore Da'quan Jackson, Star Wide Reciever, Junior Shaw Robinson , and all-region Running Back , Junior Clayton Harvey. The Eagles are only losing four key seniors in the Eagles arsenal. WR Keenan Hollis, LB Jamaal Fields, OLB Jay Dasher, and C Kody Bargeron. "We've had a great season thus far. We have one more opponent to handle, GMC this upcoming Friday. We plan to go out with a bang and we want to get this last win for our Seniors" , Stated Coach Orlando Howard. The Eagles will be in action one last time of the 2016 season as they face the Georgia Military College Bulldogs At Brogdon Kickoff at 7:30.

    whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

    two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
