One of two men shot at Toad's Place on York st. still remains at large, police said Tuesday.

Police said officers were called to the area about 11:30 p.m. and found the victim covered in blood. Carlos Burgos, 25, of Bridgeport was sitting in a 2014 Nissan Versa outside of the popular night club. Burgos, better known by his rap name Los Fidel, had been shot in the arm and leg, but was conscious and unwilling to cooperate.

Officer David Hartman said Burgos had wounds that are not believed to be life-threatening. He is being treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Police said they are looking for a black or dark blue Honda Civi that they believe may have been involved in the shooting. The car was seen fleeing the scene toward State st.

Officers recovered two handguns in the area, one on the stage near where Burgos was found. The other was outside the night club, Hartman said. Police say witnesses confirm that the shooting occurred over rap lyrics.

We spoke to Burgos briefly before being transported to the hospital and he had this to say

"I was just on stage spazzing like usual and once i got to a certain line, i just heard someone yell 'I Love Her N****!' Then next thing you know shots ring out. I felt the first one hit my arm. Then i went to grab my gun and that's when i realized my hand had been shot too. But it was life or death so i fought through the pain and started shooting back. I know i shot him because I saw the blood trail. I tried to chase him but he took off in a car. I jumped in mine but it was too late"

We asked "Why do you think he shot you?"

"Honestly I think it had to do with a line on my new mixtape. I was performing track 11 titled Let It Go and i said 'Just know i got your b**** on me and i just passed your girl a lil gas 'cuz your chick on E'. Thats when i heard him yell but the funny thing is, I wasn't even talking about him on the song. I mean I guess the shoe fit because i had his b**** on me too but that line was for some other n**** who's b**** was on me"

Detectives were at the scene searching for more witnesses and were reviewing video surveillance footage.

Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
