Boaz man is charged with Grand Theft

Dakota Blake Wilemon, 21 of Boaz was charged with multiple criminal charges for a crime spree he says was inspired by the video game "Grand Theft Auto."
According to police, Wilemon jumped into a running truck. The driver had stepped away, but his female passenger was still inside.

The woman says she was held against her will before jumping out of the truck. Burgess then allegedly slammed into several parked cars.

"One of his statements was that, he wanted to see what it was to be a Grand Theft Auto individual, what it felt like," said officer Grant with the Etowah County Police Department. "I guess to take a car and strike several vehicles at a high rate of speed."

"I think I was lucky to get out, I didn't think I was going to be able to get out, because he was just backwards, forwards, doors were locked. He wasn't listening to me. He was ignoring me," said the kidnapping victim Nicole Wilemon. "It was like he was in a whole other world. Honestly, it was the weirdest thing. He had rage in his eyes. He kept chanting the phrase "YOLO".

The woman was not hurt. Wilemon faces multiple counts, including kidnapping and theft of a motor vehicle.

Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
