Northern Kentucky band, 'Kait and the California Kings' have been making quite a name for themselves in Kentucky, and the world for that matter. In just a few short weeks, this California, Ky band will be taking their musical talents to Sis's on Monmouth St. in Newport, Ky to rock out to dozens and dozens of friends and family members. Lead guitarist Drew McGrath summed it up best when he said, "playing at Sis's will be like a dream come true. When you get on that stage, you know you've made it." And made it they have. Now with over 700 likes (yes you read that right) on their Facebook page, this band is sure to garner the respect of fellow local bands such as Borderline, Fast Forward and DV8. Drummer Mark Gindele, who was recently featured in the national magazine, 'Drummer USA' for being the first drummer to successfully use a quadruple bass pedal, chimed in and said, "I've always looked up to bands like Fast Forward. When I was a kid, I would ride in my grandparents car listening to Oldies 103.5 and almost every other song was a Fast Forward song. And now here we are, playing the same songs that they've covered for decades... it's a great feeling."
You can catch Kait and the California Kings at Sis's on Monmouth St. on Saturday November 12th. Be sure to get there early as it's easily expected to sell out all 50 seats.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
