Lansing, MI - A dog seemingly vanished from a local boarding facility this weekend. The facility and the dog's owner now think there may be something suspicious going on.

"To not do any damage to the screen, it just seems odd,' said Browne. "We're just broken up about this."

After turning to social media, Browne thought they had a break in the case. A post from Craiglist claimed that Katelynn had been found, but was hit and killed by a car.

Browne and the dog's owner both set up the meetings to try and confirm that the dog was Katelynn , but that never happened.

"They sent us to a general area in East Lansing and then nothing. No further contact from there," said Browne.

Browne quickly found out the picture in the Craigslist post wasn't Katelynn , but a stock photo that can be found with a Google search. Now, he fears someone may have taken the dog.

"There is a thing that's out there that people will steal a dog and throw up a smokescreen to make the owners think the dog passed away," said Browne.

Browne filed a report with deputies, and for now, they continue to focus on finding Tessa and bringing her home.

"She was in our care, so this is not going to be something that's easy for us to live with," said Browne.

The dog's owner, Ed Kilgore, tells 13WHAM he believes something isn't right about how his dog went missing. Kilgore traveled back to Lansing Monday night. He doesn't blame the facility and said he is thankful for the work they have done to try and help find Katelynn .

The facility has also set up safe drop-off locations for anyone who may find Katelynn. She is wearing a collar and does have a micro-chip.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
