Q: There are so many things to discuss and so many questions to be answered regarding your situation but I think it's best if we start off with some basic questions and ease our way into the more private and personal questions as this interview progresses. I wanna start by giving you the opportunity to introduce yourself and to tell us a little bit about your background as an artist. The floor is yours.

A: Greetings to all. I guess I should start by saying I'm a music and entertainment artist who functions under the alias of D-Cypher (D.CoBarz). I currently reside in Columbus, Indiana and while this isn't my hometown, I view it as such. I picked up music as a hobby in middle school and recorded my first song around that time under the stage name of Slim. I gave up the hobby shortly after, but within a short time, I began to use music and poetry to channel my emotions into something productive. This went on until late 2013, when I returned to the studio and recorded my first single, releasing it soon after. It was around this time that I took on the moniker of D-Cypher and began to release music under that identity. I began performing in February 2014, my first live performance taking place at an event headlined by the notorious R&B group known as Pretty Ricky. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life and led to a number of successes over the next year and a half. I was able to make a reality of my fantasies in a short time. Despite this, I wound up losing nearly everything I had worked for due to a destructive pattern of behavior, but I've been blessed with another chance to pursue my dreams and I look forward to what the future holds!

Q: A little over a month ago, you made your return to live performance at The Indiana Music & Motor Festival, quite unexpectedly if I may add. How did it feel to get back on the stage & how do you feel about your performance?

A: It felt great to return to the scene and reconnect with some of the artists and fans who I've lost touch with over the last couple of years. As you said, my attendance was quite unexpected and being that I was a last minute addition, I was a bit unprepared but I've gotten pretty good at improvising and making the best of circumstances so things came together. I definitely had to shake off a bit of rust but as I got further along in my set, everything started falling into place and I'm pleased with how my performance turned out. I'd like to thank Jit for giving me the opportunity to get back up there and for making it possible for me to put an end to the hiatus.

Q: There have been a couple times since your release that you've spoke of returning through social media outlets, only to later retract those statements. What have you done to ensure that this return isn't cut short and how are you working to reestablish yourself as a legitimate artist?

A: Yes, I have had a hard time committing to the music over the past few months and I'm aware that I have a lot to prove this time around. I encountered a couple setbacks following my release, setbacks that put me in spots that interfered with my ability to invest fully. I may have jumped the gun by announcing my return and I can accept that but that was prior to my performance last month and that performance provided me with a renewed confidence and with a substantial boost in my level of motivation. I've been reminded of my purpose and I've been given the push I needed to climb out of the hole I was trapped in. In the last few weeks, I've been able to realign myself with former contacts, as well as begin prepping for the next project I will be taking on. I have numerous events booked in the next few months, and will release specifics at a later date.

Q: What can you tell us about the project you are prepping to take on?

A: I don't want to give away too much at this time, as I'm still in the early stages of production and still have a lot to map out but I can say that this project will provide my fans with access to a much more intimate and open view of me. The quality of my most recent releases is not up to par with my expectations, nor am I content with the message that some of my recent work has carried. I've spoke about the enviroment around me and about the lifestyle that I've been exposed to in recent years but have glamorized such things in a way that isn't appropriate on my part. My enviroment has played a huge part on the cycle of incarceration I have fallen into and should not be taken lightly. I'm going to dig a lot deeper and this next project will be a reflection of my inner thoughts and emotions, not of the surface view of things.

Q: I know a lot of people are curious as to the reason for your most recent incarceration. Do you mind sharing what it was that led to your last arrest? Also, it's no secret that you've had a somewhat extensive history with the legal system and you've openly identified your legal battles as a hinderance to your career. Did you gain anything this time around that you feel will help you to put an end to the cycle?

A: While I won't go into specifics and I don't like to discuss the subject, I will say that my conviction was for a drug related offense. It's not a secret to anyone that I have a history of drug abuse and while I do not mind speaking of my personal struggles with addiction, I don't find it beneficial to discuss my criminal history. I made a few poor choices, I took responsibility for the choices I made, and I accepted the sanctions that were placed on me by the courts. That's now a part of my past, and not relevant to my present. As far as your second question is concerned, I will say that my most recent stint of incarceration was an eye opener. I made use of the time I spent inside and came to grips with a lot of realities that I hadn't been willing to acknowledge previously. The courts made it clear that I would be given no leniency in future dealings and I realized that if I didn't grow up, I wouldn't last long when I got out. I took a lot of steps and defeated a lot of inner demons in the 11 months I spent behind. I think the biggest step I made, the step that I struggled most with, was making amends with my family, my friends, and myself but by making that step, so many doors opened and I was able to use that momentum to grow as a person on a lot of other levels. As I mentioned earlier, I did encounter some obstacles following my release and the last 6 months haven't been smooth sailing, but I'm proud of who I am becoming and I see a change in who I am now from who I was prior to my arrest.

Q: It's good to have you back and I hope things continue to look up for you, both in your personal life and in your career. We'll talk again soon but before we close this out, do you have any comments to make or anything you'd like to say?

A: Thank you for the kind words. I just want to thank everyone who has stuck by my side and supported me through the struggle. I want to thank my fans for the support I have received over the past few months, the patience you guys have shown has been so helpful and the loyalty has been noted. I'd like salute my big brother J.B. for the strength he has shown in staying optimistic despite the circumstances of his current situation. No matter what happens over the next few months, Ima do all I can to make you proud J! On that note, we can close this out but mark my word, D-Cypher is back in business and the dice are back to rollin' baby!

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
