Bridgeton Man Accused of Attempted Murder for Early Morning shooting

CUMBERLAND — Bridgeton, a city man have been charged in the shooting of Andre Smith, who was found shot in the city's 200 block of south pine st Sunday.

Christian Layne , 18 years old are facing attempted murder and weapons charges, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office said.

Smith, 23, was found shot around 2:50 a.m. Sunday at the 200 block of south Pine st.

Witnesses told police he saw Layne shoot smith multiple times before fleeing in a black Bmw suv.

Layne was arrested Thursday night in the 600 block of north Pearl street in Bridgeton ,police dockets show. Bail was set at $1 million cash bail. He is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.

This marked the city's 13th shooting.
